歷史文化源流 | 正天下之是非 明古今之成敗

  “學者研(yan)理于經(jing),可以(yi)(yi)(yi)正(zheng)天(tian)下(xia)之是(shi)非(fei);征事(shi)于史,可以(yi)(yi)(yi)明(ming)古(gu)今之成敗(bai)”語出《四庫全書總(zong)目》。意(yi)思是(shi)研(yan)究(jiu)經(jing)典中的道理,可以(yi)(yi)(yi)證(zheng)驗天(tian)下(xia)的是(shi)非(fei);征引史籍中的事(shi)實,可以(yi)(yi)(yi)明(ming)了古(gu)今的成敗(bai)。《四庫全書》分(fen)經(jing)、史、子、集四部,引文(wen)“經(jing)”“史”所指,分(fen)別對應四部之一、二。

  “經”,即(ji)儒家經典著(zhu)(zhu)作(zuo)(zuo)。《四(si)庫全書總目》言:“蓋經者非他,即(ji)天下之公(gong)理(li)而已(yi)。”“經”在(zai)古代(dai)學術中被賦予至高地位,象征(zheng)著(zhu)(zhu)基本性(xing)、代(dai)表性(xing)的(de)著(zhu)(zhu)作(zuo)(zuo)。在(zai)古人(ren)(ren)看(kan)來,“經”是確立標準、權威恒久的(de)理(li)論(lun)體系,代(dai)表著(zhu)(zhu)天經地義的(de)綱常倫理(li),故人(ren)(ren)們能以(yi)此為標準參照,明事(shi)理(li)辨是非。

  “史(shi)(shi)(shi)”,即(ji)各種(zhong)體裁的(de)(de)(de)歷(li)史(shi)(shi)(shi)著作。《四庫全書(shu)》史(shi)(shi)(shi)部(bu)收(shou)錄了正(zheng)史(shi)(shi)(shi)、編(bian)年、紀事本末等十(shi)五類史(shi)(shi)(shi)書(shu),以史(shi)(shi)(shi)為鑒,閱盡千年興衰(shuai)。這(zhe)些史(shi)(shi)(shi)書(shu)不(bu)僅(jin)是對(dui)歷(li)史(shi)(shi)(shi)事件(jian)的(de)(de)(de)詳細(xi)記載(zai),更具有恢宏的(de)(de)(de)歷(li)史(shi)(shi)(shi)視(shi)野,總結了盛衰(shuai)成(cheng)敗的(de)(de)(de)經驗教訓,揭示了歷(li)史(shi)(shi)(shi)社會發展的(de)(de)(de)一般規律。

  研究經典與歷史,從中(zhong)(zhong)明(ming)世間義理、覽歷代興衰、觀天下(xia)大勢,是(shi)中(zhong)(zhong)華民(min)族的(de)傳統智慧。

  《論(lun)語•為(wei)(wei)政》記(ji)載了一個故事。子張(zhang)問:“十世(shi)(shi)可(ke)知也(ye)?”孔子答:“殷(yin)因(yin)于夏禮,所(suo)損益,可(ke)知也(ye);周因(yin)于殷(yin)禮,所(suo)損益,可(ke)知也(ye)。其或繼周者,雖百世(shi)(shi),可(ke)知也(ye)。”子張(zhang)欲問歷(li)史之因(yin)沿演(yan)進,孔子在這里把(ba)夏、商、周三代變(bian)化的(de)特(te)點總結(jie)為(wei)(wei)兩條:一是(shi)“因(yin)”,就是(shi)繼承(cheng);二是(shi)“損益”,就是(shi)變(bian)革。這段話闡述(shu)了文(wen)化的(de)賡續(xu)規律(lv)。歷(li)史演(yan)進,必(bi)(bi)有(you)承(cheng)襲于前,亦必(bi)(bi)有(you)所(suo)加減損益。按照(zhao)這樣的(de)規律(lv),哪怕歷(li)經(jing)百世(shi)(shi),襲變(bian)興革也(ye)是(shi)可(ke)知的(de)。

  古人善于從歷史(shi)現象中把握本質、探(tan)求規(gui)律(lv)。《史(shi)記(ji)(ji)》旨(zhi)在“究天人之際,通古今之變(bian)”;《資(zi)(zi)治通鑒》取(qu)意“鑒于往事,有資(zi)(zi)于治道”。幾千年來,盡(jin)管朝代更(geng)替,各(ge)家(jia)爭(zheng)鳴,但分合大勢、經濟變(bian)革、文化發(fa)展(zhan)等(deng)方面都呈現出(chu)可以摸索的演變(bian)規(gui)律(lv),并形成(cheng)了中國傳(chuan)統文化普(pu)遍認同(tong)和接受的是(shi)非(fei)標(biao)準(zhun)。中華(hua)(hua)文明五(wu)千多年發(fa)展(zhan)史(shi),鐫刻著中華(hua)(hua)民(min)族(zu)跋山涉水、求真索理的印記(ji)(ji),也(ye)是(shi)華(hua)(hua)夏子民(min)珍(zhen)重文脈品格(ge)、傳(chuan)承(cheng)中華(hua)(hua)優秀傳(chuan)統文化的寫照(zhao)。

  讀史(shi)使人明智,在于讀史(shi)能見(jian)其全、見(jian)其大、見(jian)其遠(yuan)、見(jian)其深。清代龔自(zi)珍(zhen)(zhen)《尊(zun)史(shi)》言:“出乎史(shi),入(ru)乎道。欲知大道,必先為史(shi)。”龔自(zi)珍(zhen)(zhen)主(zhu)張(zhang)做學問必須聯系(xi)實(shi)際,為現實(shi)服(fu)務。他對(dui)當(dang)時(shi)(shi)學者(zhe)不通(tong)時(shi)(shi)務予(yu)以(yi)批判:“不通(tong)乎當(dang)世(shi)之(zhi)務,不知經(jing)、史(shi)施于今日之(zhi)孰緩、孰急(ji)、孰可行、孰不可行也”。龔自(zi)珍(zhen)(zhen)主(zhu)張(zhang)通(tong)過“善(shan)入(ru)善(shan)出”的(de)方法分(fen)析時(shi)(shi)事,以(yi)達到經(jing)世(shi)致(zhi)用的(de)目的(de)。
